Middle-Mile and FTTx Construction

Middle-Mile FiberFTTxBackbone Construction

Four backbone segments built across south and central Alabama, together placing more than 1.5 million feet — roughly 300 route miles — of middle-mile fiber, alongside a large community anchor lateral build still in construction. The repeat award reflects Stronghold’s ability to run several work fronts at once and hold the same construction and closeout standards across all of them.

Project experience

  • Middle-mile backbone construction across four segments
  • Community anchor institution laterals
  • More than 300 route miles placed to date
  • Multiple simultaneous work fronts
  • Quality control and project closeout
  • Continued award across multiple years

Electric Cooperative

Middle-Mile and FTTH Construction

Middle-Mile FiberFTTHSplicing

Eight construction projects across a cooperative’s broadband service territory, totaling more than 190 route miles of middle-mile and FTTH plant, with fusion splicing carried on the same contract. Several routes finished above their original design footage as the cooperative extended service further into its membership.

  • Middle-mile fiber construction
  • FTTH network deployment
  • Fusion splicing and testing
  • Rock and mixed-formation drilling
  • Rural service-area expansion
  • Quality control and closeout

USDA ReConnect FTTH Construction

ReConnectFTTHRural Broadband

Buried fiber-to-the-home construction under USDA ReConnect Rounds 2 and 3, covering roughly 57 route miles and 611 service locations. Construction started in August 2026 and runs through January 2027.

  • Buried FTTH construction
  • 611 service locations
  • Federally funded project compliance
  • Drop bury and service placement
  • Restoration and closeout records

FTTH Construction

FTTHMetro Construction

FTTH construction across more than twenty fiber distribution hub areas in two metro markets, extending service into new neighborhoods. The work called for steady production across many small concurrent service areas rather than one continuous route.

  • FTTH network construction
  • Distribution hub service areas
  • Concurrent work fronts
  • New service-area expansion
  • Construction closeout

Utility Company

Aerial and Underground Utility Construction

Utility FiberAerialUnderground

Aerial and underground fiber construction on electric utility infrastructure across multiple routes in two states, built to the utility’s construction standards and scheduled around its operations crews.

  • Aerial fiber construction on utility poles
  • Underground conduit and cable placement
  • Utility construction standards
  • Multi-route coordination
  • Quality control and closeout

Hurricane Restoration

Emergency Restoration

Storm restoration for an ISP following hurricane damage, in 2024 and again in 2025. Crews mobilized into the recovery area, assessed damaged plant and rebuilt aerial and underground facilities to return service.

  • Emergency field mobilization
  • Damage assessment
  • Aerial and underground rebuild
  • Out-of-region deployment
  • Service restoration
